Digital timestamps
In general, a time stamp is information that represents a trustworthy indication of the date and time.
According to the Trust Services Act (VDG) a timestamp is a digitally signed digital certificate from a certification authority that certain digital data was available to it at a certain point in time.
Time stamps are created technically like electronic signatures, but are not a personal signature (e.g. declaration of intent) but only serve to prove that the content of an electronic document was available at a defined point in time.
