AOK Lower Saxony introduces the electronic seal

Successful implementation of the Europe-wide guideline eIDAS

Röttenbach, November 09, 2017 - The AOK Lower Saxony is the first insurance institute in Germany to have the electronic seal according to EUEIDAS regulation introduced. The implementation of the associated software was made by SEAL Systems and intarsys carried out.

The eIDAS regulation, which applies uniformly across Europe, and the associated electronic seal ensure that the AOK Lower Saxony secured in electronic transactions. With the entry into force of the EIDAS- Implementation Act on July 29, 2017 and the simultaneous expiry of the Signature Act and Signature Ordinance, this became EU- Regulation clearly transposed into national law. The AOK Lower Saxony is the first insurance institute in Germany that the new possibilities of this EURegulation has implemented.

The AOK Lower Saxony has chosen the solution presented by SEAL Systems and intarsys, software manufacturer from Erlangen and Karlsruhe, respectively, decided.

Electronic documents containing the AOK Reaching Lower Saxony via mail, file upload and web forms are now handled by the conversion server from SEAL System after PDF/ A and then sealed with an intarsys signature server. The solution also supports the decentralized scanning of documents in on-site customer service. The seal certificates from Bundesdruckerei are used as an in-house card solution. Both systems are extremely secure and fail-safe thanks to the data center of the AOK Lower Saxony operated.
