005 has the ISO Taj PDF/ A format ("A" = archive) as default for the long-term archiving certified by documents.
The PDF/ A-Standard excludes functions that impair long-term displayability. Only the subset of was defined PDF, with which documents to be archived can be described in such a way that the requirements for long-term archiving are met and the long-term readability of the documents is guaranteed - regardless of the application software and operating system on which they were originally created.
With PDF/ A-2 is there a current version which aspects like the JPEG-2000 compression is taken into account and can also contain file attachments, provided that these themselves PDF/ A-1- or PDF/ A-2 compliant.
In 2012, in order to meet the requirements of different user groups, PDF/ A-3 another standard has been published which allows file attachments of any file type.
