Electronic signatures and seals in the construction industry

Digital processing in the construction industry requires freedom from media disruption and the use of secure digital transmission channels between architects, structural engineers, surveying engineers and the building authorities. With a valid qualified electronic signature, all parties involved are certain: the document has not been changed since the signature. Any changes to plans, documents from the draft author, surveying documents or building authority notices are traceable. With the qualified signature, the document complies with the written form and has a preserving effect on evidentiary value. For authorities, this also applies to the sealing of documents (Section 3a, Paragraph 3, Sentence 3a of the Administrative Procedure Act). This currently applies at federal level, with the respective implementations to follow at state level.

For architects and structural engineers

The architect is responsible for a variety of documents:
Building applications, construction drawings, calculations, in different formats.

Construction plans should be signed by the architect. This ensures legal certainty for digital building applications and complies with the written form and has a preserving effect on evidentiary value.
